How to Prepare a Herbal Bath...
Ingredients / Equipment
Essential oil of lavender and camomile (4 drops of each)
Bath full of moderately hot water
Candles if desired
Method
It is possible to use fresh lavender and camomile leaves if available. Use equal amounts of each tied in a muslin bag place under running tap to release the aromatic oils. For babies it is necessary to dilute the essential oils is a base oil or in milk. The principal of herbal baths is two-fold. (a) The oils float on the top of the water and cover the body (while getting out of the bath) and (b) breathing of the oils has also a therapeutic effect which varies depending on the oil.
Run the bath; add undiluted oils for an adult or older child. Agitate the water by hand.
Light the candles, extinguish all unnatural light, and close the door of bathroom for maximum effect. Spend 20 mins relaxing, adding extra hot water if necessary. Ideally, pat dry and get dressed warmly for bed immediately.
